Việt Nam’s top logistics drivers were celebrated at a national competition showcasing skill, safety and professionalism at the heart of the country’s supply chain.
HCM CITY — Dozens of drivers from leading logistics enterprises across Việt Nam have showcased their expertise in a national driving skills competition, an initiative designed to honour outstanding talent and promote higher safety standards in freight transport.
Organised by the Vietnam Logistics Business Association in collaboration with ITL Corporation, the Vietnam Logistics Safe & Excellent Driving Skills Award 2025 brought together 25 drivers from 17 companies. Contestants competed in two categories, container trucks and light trucks, reflecting the diverse demands of the logistics industry.
Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Logistics Business Association Võ Thị Phương Lan emphasised that the competition was more than a test of ability.
“This event is not merely a competition but also a tribute to the silent contributions of drivers. It recognises and commends outstanding individuals while inspiring the entire driving community,” she said.
The contest was carefully designed to mirror real-world operations, assessing overall driving skills, situational awareness and adherence to safety principles
Drivers were evaluated on pre-trip, en-route and post-trip checks, long-haul driving assessments, rapid responses to unexpected scenarios and vehicle manoeuvring techniques.
One of the highlights was the reverse driving challenge, widely regarded as one of the most demanding manoeuvres in professional practice.
For participants, the event was both a challenge and a learning opportunity.
Hồ Phát Lợi, a driver from WR1, said: “Every safe trip not only preserves the company’s assets and cargo but also protects the safety of the driver, those around them and the entire community. Participating in a competition that emphasises skill, composure and safety culture is a valuable chance for us to learn, improve and refine our capabilities.”
After a day of intense competition, prizes were awarded to the best performers: two first, two second, two third and two consolation prizes across the categories, along with a Team Prize recognising collective excellence.
Deputy General Director of ITL Corporation Nguyễn Quốc Thúc said: “This contest created a meaningful platform for drivers to connect, exchange knowledge and demonstrate the situational skills required in their daily work. At the same time, it offered logistics enterprises an opportunity to strengthen ties and foster the professionalisation of the industry’s workforce,” he said.
He added that the contest was a tribute to skilled and professional drivers who form the essential backbone of the nation’s supply chain and expressed his hope that the network among logistics companies would continue to expand and grow stronger after the event.
Looking ahead, organisers expressed their hope that the competition will become an annual fixture, continuing to promote professionalism, enhance safety culture and reinforce solidarity within Việt Nam’s logistics sector. — VNS
