HÀ NỘI VinFast and Exposure SARL have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the potential supply of electric vehicles for green taxi services in Kinshasa, marking a further step in the Vietnamese carmaker’s international expansion and in efforts to promote cleaner urban transport in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Under the MoU, the two sides will discuss and coordinate plans to supply an initial batch of VinFast electric vehicles for Exposure to operate as electric taxis in the Congolese capital. The proposed fleet is expected to include the commercial-focused Limo Green and Herio Green models, forming a foundation for an all-electric taxi service and contributing to the development of zero-emission urban passenger transport in Congo.
Exposure has also expressed its intention to become a distributor of VinFast vehicles in the Congolese market. The two parties will jointly study a business plan tailored to local conditions and have committed to continued cooperation in good faith, laying the groundwork for deeper collaboration subject to further agreements and regulatory approvals.
The MoU initiates the implementation of a strategic cooperation framework established by Vingroup and the City of Kinshasa in 2025. Under that framework, the parties agreed to study and promote the procurement and deployment of VinFast’s electric mobility solutions, including electric buses, cars and scooters, to meet the city’s transport needs.
Previously, Kinshasa municipal authorities and Vingroup also signed an MoU to study the development of a riverside mega urban project covering about 6,300 hectares. The proposed development, featuring housing, villas, hospitals, schools, shopping centres, hotels and entertainment facilities, is envisioned as a future tourism destination and a symbol of Kinshasa’s long-term growth, subject to feasibility studies and approvals.
The partnerships are aligned with the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s long-term vision for sustainable urban development and green transition, particularly in fast-growing cities such as Kinshasa where demand for clean, smart and efficient mobility is increasing. Building on the country’s renewable energy potential and commitment to low-emission growth, the initiative is intended to support Kinshasa’s ambition to develop integrated green infrastructure and an electric mobility ecosystem. — VNS
