Vietjet signs landmark deals with Airbus and Rolls-Royce during Việt Nam–UK partnership upgrade
Both agreements are expected to contribute to job creation in the UK and Europe, promote technological innovation and strengthen the growing economic partnership between Việt Nam and the UK.
 
LONDON — Vietjet has announced two major agreements with leading global aerospace manufacturers Airbus and Rolls-Royce, marking a significant milestone in the growing Việt Nam-UK relationship as the two countries elevated their ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
During an official visit to the UK by Việt Nam’s General Secretary Tô Lâm, Vietjet signed a contract with Airbus for the purchase of 100 A321neo aircraft, underscoring the airline’s commitment to sustainable growth and fleet modernisation.
At a ceremony held at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office on Thursday, the agreement signing was witnessed by Lâm, senior Vietnamese officials and Matt Western, the UK Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Việt Nam, during the Việt Nam-UK High-Level Economic Conference.
Vietjet Chairwoman Nguyễn Thị Phương Thảo said: “This is not merely a commercial contract, but a symbol of trust, aspiration and a shared vision for sustainable development and global connectivity.”
Christian Scherer, CEO of Airbus Commercial Aircraft, added: “We are proud to partner with Vietjet – a symbol of the vitality and growing stature of Việt Nam.”
The order is expected to generate thousands of jobs across the UK and Europe, while helping Vietjet expand its international network and reduce emissions in line with the global net zero emissions target.
A $3.8 billion engine agreement
 
In a separate ceremony held the same day, Vietjet and Rolls-Royce finalised a US$3.8 billion agreement for 92 Trent 7000 engines and comprehensive TotalCare® maintenance services to power Vietjet’s new fleet of 40 A330neo aircraft.
The signing, also witnessed by the Vietnamese Party leader and UK officials, further strengthens bilateral cooperation in aviation, technology and investment.

Ewen McDonald, Chief Customer Officer of Rolls-Royce Civil Aerospace, said: “Today’s agreement opens significant opportunities for Vietjet to continue expanding its network, offering passengers affordable, comfortable and memorable travel experiences worldwide.”
The Trent 7000 engines, renowned for their advanced efficiency, will enable Vietjet to operate long-haul routes to Europe and other destinations while enhancing sustainability and operational performance.
