HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam is betting big on brains as FPT Corporation launches the Âu Lạc Grand Prize, putting a US$1 million spotlight on homegrown artificial intelligence (AI) talent.

The award, Việt Nam’s largest AI prize, honours groundbreaking AI products and solutions developed by Vietnamese innovators, affirming the nation’s aspiration for technological sovereignty.

The prize will run for three consecutive years starting in 2026, recognising AI innovations with significant economic and social impact. Winners will also receive mentorship and global networking support from FPT and the Âu Lạc AI Alliance, which brings together leading tech firms, research institutes, and universities.

Announced on Việt Nam’s National Day (September 2), the prize symbolises the country’s journey from national independence to technological self-reliance in the digital age.

FPT Chairman Trương Gia Bình said the prize aims to inspire scientists, businesses, and young people to pioneer AI for sustainable development, strengthening Việt Nam’s position on the global tech map.

With over a decade of AI leadership, FPT has more than 1,000 AI experts, two AI factories in partnership with NVIDIA, and solutions applied across education, healthcare, banking, commerce and smart cities.
