BẮC NINH — Samsung Electronics Vietnam (SEV) has opened a rooftop solar power system at its factory located in the Yên Phong Industrial Park in the northern province of Bắc Ninh.

Developed in partnership with CME Solar Investment, the project features a total capacity of 2.38 MWp and is expected to generate approximately 2.59 million kWh of clean electricity annually. The system is designed to help reduce the environmental footprint of Samsung’s operations while enhancing energy efficiency.

Notably, the project reached its Commercial Operation Date (COD) just three months after the groundbreaking ceremony - a milestone that highlights the efficiency of the implementation and signals Samsung Vietnam’s alignment with the Government’s net-zero emissions roadmap.

The rooftop solar installation is a key step in Samsung’s broader sustainability strategy as the largest foreign direct investor in Việt Nam. It marks the beginning of the group’s long-term decarbonisation journey in the country, contributing to both national and global climate goals.

Kim Iee Soo, General Director of Samsung Electronics Vietnam, said the project is not only economically significant but also underscores Samsung’s strong commitment to environmental and social responsibility in Việt Nam.

“It represents our dedication to a greener future for the next generations,” he said.

As the implementation partner, CME Solar was responsible for the end-to-end development of the project - from technical design and legal procedures to construction, commissioning and operations - ensuring compliance with Samsung’s stringent safety and quality standards.

CME Solar, which currently manages nearly 100 rooftop solar systems nationwide, employs a proprietary 24/7 monitoring platform powered by advanced analytics and artificial intelligence. This system supports real-time issue detection, stable performance and long-term operational efficiency.

Chung Diệu Tuấn, CEO of CME Solar, said the project’s success demonstrates the shared commitment of both parties to sustainable development.

“This is more than just a renewable energy project. It reflects core values of sustainability, innovation, and responsible business practices that drive us toward a low-carbon economy,” he said.

With the rooftop solar system now officially in commercial operation, the SEV factory in Bắc Ninh is positioned as a model of effective collaboration between two leading enterprises in technology and clean energy. — VNS
