HÀ NỘI — Bamboo Airways has added another aircraft to its fleet ahead of the busy Tết (Lunar New Year) travel season, boosting capacity as the airline continues to rebuild operations.

The Airbus A320, registered as ER-0005, landed at Nội Bài International Airport on Saturday after completing its first commercial flight in Bamboo Airways’ livery. The aircraft is the latest addition to the fleet as the carrier prepares for the year-end peak.

Bringing a new aircraft into service just before the holiday rush provides an immediate lift to operating capacity and marks another step in the airline’s effort to restore its fleet following its return to management under FLC Group.

To mark the addition, Bamboo Airways has launched a short-term fare promotion on flights operated by the newly added aircraft. Passengers can enjoy discounts of up to 18 per cent on Economy Smart and Economy Saver Max fares, and 8 per cent on other fare classes. The promotion runs from December 14 to 17 across all official sales channels, applying to flights departing between December 14 and 30, excluding peak dates.

According to CEO Trương Phương Thành, fleet expansion is central to Bamboo Airways’ next phase of growth, enabling higher flight frequencies, improved efficiency and the gradual reopening of suspended domestic and international routes. “As the fleet is strengthened, Bamboo Airways will be better positioned to meet travel demand at home and abroad,” he said.

The delivery forms part of a longer-term plan to rebuild the fleet to 30 aircraft, in line with the scale approved by the government, with a target of adding eight to 10 aircraft annually over the medium term.

For the Tết Holiday, the airline plans to raise total seat capacity by about 16 per cent, focusing on major trunk routes and services linking HCM City with provinces such as Thanh Hóa, Vinh, Hải Phòng and Quy Nhơn. Early booking data show strong demand, with many peak flights already sold out.

Alongside capacity growth, Bamboo Airways is stepping up recruitment and training, while maintaining a focus on service quality and punctuality. In November 2025, the airline posted an on-time performance rate of 88.8 per cent, ranking among Việt Nam’s most punctual carriers. — VNS
