HÀ NỘI — Viettel Networks, a subsidiary of Viettel Group, and Ericsson have signed a cooperation agreement to apply advanced technologies in telecom network operations, accelerating autonomous network development and improving service quality and customer experience.

The deal was signed on the sidelines of Mobile World Congress 2026 (MWC 2026), Viettel Networks said on Wednesday.

Under the partnership, Ericsson will provide network automation platforms and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and work with Viettel on real-world trials. The collaboration combines Viettel’s large-scale operational expertise with Ericsson’s automation strengths.

The two sides will conduct research, testing and technical assessments to integrate AI into network management and optimisation. The goal is to build networks that proactively detect and fix faults, automatically reduce congestion, optimise coverage and performance, and shorten new service deployment time.

The upgrades are expected to deliver more stable connections, faster speeds and fewer disruptions, as demand for data and digital services rises.

Lưu Mạnh Hà, general director of Viettel Networks, said the partnership will support the development of a self-operating, self-managing network, minimising manual intervention through AI-based control systems. This will enable more flexible service deployment, cost optimisation and better response to complex 5G demands.

Viettel will also help develop and test optimisation applications, while strengthening its capacity to independently deploy solutions tailored to Việt Nam and international markets.

By joining Ericsson’s network automation ecosystem, Viettel will gain access to advanced tools and applications to accelerate network modernisation.

Rita Mokbel, President of Ericsson Vietnam, said the cooperation aims to expand large-scale AI adoption, enhance orchestration capabilities and develop high-performance programmable networks, underlining both sides’ commitment to innovation and future digital services.

Following the agreement, Viettel plans to expand autonomous operations across its infrastructure – from radio and transmission systems to core networks and IT platforms – moving towards a fully AI-driven network. — VNA/VNS
