HCM CITY — AstraZeneca Vietnam, a leading global pharmaceutical company, was honoured in the Outstanding CSR Initiatives category at the 2025 Top 50 Sustainable Businesses Awards held by Nhịp Cầu Đầu Tư (The Business Review) magazine on July 15.

Atul Tandon, Country President of the company, said that recognising the link between business growth and resilience, the company is committed to supporting people, society and the planet through science that delivers life-changing medicines.

This recognition reflects AstraZeneca Vietnam’s strong contribution to sustainable development, public health, and healthcare system resilience, he said.

“We are also acting on climate, improving healthcare access, and building system resilience for the future,” he said.

The company has been committed to advancing community health through innovative solutions and impactful CSR programmes.

Over the past 30 years, the company has worked closely with the Ministry of Health and partners to raise awareness, prevent diseases, and promote early diagnosis.

A key initiative is the Young Health Programme (YHP), launched in 2019 to prevent non-communicable diseases (NCDs) among youth aged 10 - 24 in underserved areas.

The programme has positively impacted over 100,000 students across 29 schools and universities, with 81 per cent improving awareness of risk factors and 63 per cent adopting healthier eating habits.

Another major effort is the Partnership for Health System Sustainability and Resilience (PHSSR), which is run in collaboration with the Health Strategy and Policy Institute.

Implemented in two phases (2020-2025), it supports the healthcare system’s financial sustainability through training, research, and technology transfer for local drug and vaccine production.

The company also demonstrates environmental responsibility through its LEED Gold-certified Hanoi office, designed with energy-saving features and low climate impact - part of its global carbon neutrality strategy.

It has supported early screening for over one million patients nationwide through initiatives such as “CAREME – Yêu lấy mình” -  a digital programme for early detection of cardiovascular, diabetes, and kidney diseases; “Vì lá phổi khỏe” for outpatient management of asthma and COPD; “Thương phổi” for lung cancer screening and early diagnosis; and a digital screening programme powered by artificial intelligence called VYPA. — VNS
