HCM CITY — Global healthcare leader Abbott launched its FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus Flash Glucose Monitoring System Sensor, with real-time minute-by-minute glucose readings, in Việt Nam on June 24.

With this sensor, people living with diabetes can see their glucose readings and receive alerts automatically on their readers when their glucose reaches levels that are either too low or too high.

More than seven million people are living with diabetes in Việt Nam, with a growing number of patients using continuous glucose monitors to improve their daily diabetes management. The FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensor's performance meets robust accuracy standards, delivering reliable glucose readings for users. With glucose readings on display, people can see the impact of food, medication and exercise on their glucose levels and take appropriate action.

Studies demonstrate that FreeStyle Libre technology helps reduce low blood sugar episodes and lower HbA1c levels by nearly 1 per cent. The system has also been shown to reduce hospital visits by up to two-thirds and cut work absence by nearly 60 per cent.

Utilising Bluetooth technology and optional alarms, the FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensor provides continuous glucose data to the reader. After scanning the sensor worn on the back of the upper arm for up to 15 days, people living with diabetes see real-time glucose levels, historical trends and patterns, and arrows showing where glucose levels are going without having to use a fingerstick. 

The system includes the FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensor and the FreeStyle Libre 2 reader. It is available for people aged two years and older with or without diabetes, including women with gestational diabetes.

In Việt Nam, they are distributed through Abbott’s official store on e-commerce platforms, Abbott’s careline at 19001519 and the Pharmacity pharmacy chain.
