HCM CITY — ABB has unveiled the next generation of its flagship air circuit breaker, the SACE Emax 3, for the first time in Việt Nam at Power Innovation Day 2026 in HCM City.

Designed for large facilities with high power demands, including data centres, advanced manufacturing sites and mission‑critical infrastructure, the Emax 3 addresses growing challenges related to cybersecurity, grid stability and the rapidly increasing power requirements driven by artificial intelligence (AI).

Building on the success of the industry-leading Emax 2, the new Emax 3 introduces advanced technologies to help prevent power outages and ensure system resilience. With highly accurate power sensors and embedded data analytics, the device monitors real-time electrical parameters, equipment health and environmental conditions such as temperature. This information is accessible remotely or via the Emax 3 touchscreen, giving users actionable insights, early warnings and data-driven maintenance recommendations.

Notably, the SACE Emax 3 is the world’s first air circuit breaker to achieve IEC 62443 Security Level 2 cybersecurity certification and delivers Class 0.5 active power and energy measurement accuracy. It is also the first air circuit breaker with a fully integrated arc-flash detection system to further enhance safety and reliability. This capability enables Việt Nam’s buildings, hospitals, airports, factories, utilities, and rapidly expanding data centre sector to better protect their operations from cyberattacks and system disturbances.

“We are excited to officially introduce the SACE Emax 3 in Việt Nam, a breakthrough designed to address the country’s evolving challenges around cybersecurity, grid stability and the surging power needs driven by the next phase of digital and industrial growth,” said Mr. Đỗ Quyền, Country Head, Electrification Smart Power and Smart Buildings, ABB Vietnam.

“As Việt Nam targets double‑digit economic growth and accelerates industrialisation, demand for innovative power technology solutions continues to rise. With advanced sensing and embedded digital intelligence, the new SACE Emax 3 will help our customers stay ahead of changing power requirements and safeguard mission-critical uptime.”

Emax 3 was launched as the headline highlight of Power Innovation Day 2026, ABB’s signature annual event. The showcase also marked the official introduction of ABB Ability™ BuildingPro in Việt Nam, featured through an interactive hospitality‑focused experience zone demonstrating end‑to‑end facility operations, alongside innovations in smarter energy management, next‑generation data centre architectures, and advanced grid solutions.

The event further explored key themes shaping Việt Nam’s power future, such as sensor‑driven grid intelligence, AI‑assisted fault detection, modular and scalable power systems for digital industries, and the future of fast, flexible, and intelligent building management.

As Việt Nam enters a new phase of development, targeting double-digit GDP growth for 2026 - 2030 and aspiring to become a high‑income economy by 2045, ABB continues to expand its portfolio of solutions across energy distribution, energy management, building automation and smart grid technologies. With more than 30 years in Việt Nam, ABB remains committed to enabling the country’s rapid, efficient and sustainable industrial growth. — VNS
