The new routes are expected to strengthen air links between Việt Nam and southern China, supporting tourism, trade and business travel as demand between the two markets continues to recover.
HÀ NỘI — Vietravel Airlines plans to launch services from HCM City to Shenzhen in August and open a new Hà Nội–Macau route later this year, as the carrier accelerates fleet expansion to support growing travel demand and its broader international growth strategy.
The airline on Wednesday took delivery of another Airbus A321 aircraft, configured with 230 seats which was immediately placed into service.
The addition raises the number of aircraft owned by the carrier to four, marking a significant step in its efforts to increase fleet ownership and strengthen operational capacity.
The newly acquired aircraft is part of Vietravel Airlines’ plan to add seven more planes during the second half of 2026, laying the groundwork for a larger route network and greater operational flexibility.
Nguyễn Tuấn Anh, deputy CEO of Vietravel Airlines, said the latest fleet addition reflects the airline’s preparations to meet peak summer travel demand while supporting its long-term growth ambitions.
“Alongside expanding transport capacity, Vietravel Airlines is investing in both fleet development and workforce quality to ensure the highest standards of safety and operational efficiency,” he said.
The fleet expansion is expected to enhance the airline’s connectivity within the aviation, logistics and infrastructure ecosystem being developed by T&T Group, creating new opportunities for sustainable growth in the years ahead.
At the same time, the carrier is stepping up digital transformation efforts to improve the passenger experience. Its recently launched mobile check-in application integrates biometric authentication technology, helping travellers complete airport procedures more quickly, particularly during peak travel periods.
Vietravel Airlines currently operates flights linking major economic and tourism centres across Việt Nam while steadily expanding its international footprint. In addition to scheduled services connecting Hà Nội and HCM City with Bangkok, the airline began operating charter flights between Hà Nội and Lanzhou in China’s Gansu Province on June 20. — BIZHUB
