HÀ NỘI — Taiwan (China)'s finance authority has announced the initiation of an anti-dumping investigation into some cold-rolled and flat-rolled stainless-steel products originating from Việt Nam.

According to the Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam, the investigation was launched in response to a petition jointly filed by Taiwanese producers Yieh United Steel Corp and Tang Eng Iron Works, alleging that Vietnamese imports are being sold at unfairly low prices, causing material injury to the local industry. 

The probe mainly covers cold-rolled stainless steel with thicknesses ranging from 0.05mm to 6.10mm and specific composition limits for elements including nickel, chrome, manganese and aluminum. Products with metallic coatings or cladding are excluded.

The subject goods, which belong to 20 Vietnamese producers and exporters, are widely used in kitchenware, food processing, home appliances, construction, aerospace, petrochemicals, machinery and transportation.

The investigation period covers July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026.

Under the procedural timeline, Taiwan’s economic authority must issue a preliminary injury determination within 40 days of notification, while the finance authority has 70 days to make a preliminary dumping finding.

According to the petitioner's request, the alleged dumping margin for the Vietnamese goods in 2025 is 31.36 per cent.

To proactively and effectively respond to this case, the Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam recommends 20 Vietnamese producers and exporters to register as interested parties within the prescribed timeframe to safeguard their legitimate rights and interests.

They should also notify relevant foreign manufacturers or exporters to ensure joint submission of documentation within the deadline, thereby protecting the rights and interests of all parties involved.

Besides, they also need to review their export activities, determine whether their goods fall within the scope of the investigation and prepare documentation and data regarding production, sales, costs and exports to facilitate responses to the investigation questionnaires.

In addition, they must proactively cooperate fully and comprehensively with the Taiwanese investigating authority, providing the requested information within the prescribed deadlines to avoid being deemed uncooperative and facing the imposition of unfavourable anti-dumping duty rates. — BIZHUB
