Marriott International, Inc has recently opened the Legacy Mekong, Cần Thơ, Autograph Collection, marking the company’s 700th property in Asia Pacific excluding China (APEC).
The collective label “Low-Emission Green Vietnamese Rice”, developed by the Vietnam Rice Sector Association (VIETRISA), is gaining strong market traction, reinforcing the image of Vietnamese rice as environmentally friendly and aligned with sustainable development.
“Straw is not a problem to be managed, but a solution to be exploited,” IRRI Country Representative for Việt Nam, Laos and Myanmar Robert Caudwell said.

The one-million-hectare rice project seeks to produce high-quality, low-emission rice while restructuring the sector for greater value. It also aims to raise farmers’ incomes, ensure food security, and support Việt Nam’s commitment to net zero emissions by 2050.
