According to Circular 50/2025/TT-BCT of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, from June 1, all unleaded gasoline circulating in the market must be blended with ethanol to become E10 biofuel before being sold.
Việt Nam’s automobile and motorcycle manufacturers said most current vehicle models are compatible with E10 biofuel gasoline but warning that some older vehicles may face operational issues, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has reported.
The inspections are aimed at preventing speculation and fraud during the transition to E10 biofuel – a low-level blend composed of 10 per cent ethanol and 90 per cent gasoline.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade has proposed new pricing mechanisms and tax incentives for E10 biofuel ahead of a June 1 nationwide rollout to boost uptake and competitiveness against fossil fuels.
The Dung Quất Biofuel Plant is accelerating production and is expected to reach full capacity around mid-April, supplying ethanol for nationwide E10RON95 biofuel blending.
As planned, during March and April 2026, the ministry will conduct inspections and assessments of the readiness of key petroleum traders, production and processing enterprises, as well as infrastructure conditions and quality standards.
