HÀ NỘI — Sun Group on Friday broke ground on five large-scale projects across Việt Nam, with a total investment of nearly VNĐ150 trillion (US$6 billion), as part of a nationwide push to accelerate key infrastructure and urban developments.

Among the projects is the first phase of the Phú Quốc light rail transit (LRT) line, a nearly 18-kilometre route linking Phú Quốc International Airport with the APEC Boulevard and conference centre. The VNĐ9 trillion project is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2027 and aims to ease traffic congestion while promoting green public transport on the island.

Sun Group also started work on a $2 billion integrated resort with a casino in Vân Đồn Economic Zone, Quảng Ninh Province, designed as a high-end tourism and entertainment complex combining hospitality, leisure and commercial facilities.

In northern Việt Nam, construction began on a major road connecting Gia Bình Airport in Bắc Ninh Province with central Hà Nội. With an investment of nearly VNĐ33 trillion, the route is expected to improve regional connectivity and reduce pressure on Nội Bài Airport.

In the capital, the group launched a VNĐ4.7 trillion project to redevelop and upgrade parks along the Tô Lịch River, aimed at improving urban space, environmental quality and public amenities.

Meanwhile, in the South, Sun Group broke ground on the An Tây urban cluster, a 724ha development worth more than VNĐ51 trillion, positioned as a modern urban and port hub supporting logistics, waterways and regional connectivity.

Sun Group said the projects underline the role of private investment in supporting Việt Nam’s long-term growth, infrastructure development and tourism ambitions. — BIZHUB/VNS
