HÀ NỘI — Japan’s Sumitomo Group plans to start construction on the VNĐ2.9 trillion (US$111.3 million) Thăng Long Thanh Hóa Industrial Park in the northern province of Thanh Hóa on March 11 this year.
At a meeting with the province’s leaders, the group’s representatives expressed their hope that the province would support the group in implementing the 167ha project, thus helping to create jobs for local workers and contributing to the province's growth in the next few years.
Thanh Hóa leaders said that the park project is crucial for the province's industrial development orientation in the new era.
The project is a highlight in economic cooperation between Việt Nam and Japan in the area, helping promote the shift in economic structure towards modernisation. The provincial People's Committee and relevant agencies will thus coordinate closely and promptly resolve obstacles, especially in land clearance work, to ensure the project is implemented according to plan.
Sumitomo Group has invested and participated in many different sectors in Việt Nam, such as industrial park development, urban infrastructure, energy, logistics and real estate.
Some of the group's projects include Thăng Long I Industrial Park in Hà Nội, Thăng Long II in Hưng Yên Province and Thăng Long III in Vĩnh Phúc Province. — BIZHUB/VNS
