THÁI NGUYÊN — Samsung Vietnam on Thursday officially inaugurated the Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) High-Tech Talent Development Centre at the University of Information and Communication Technology – Thái Nguyên University.

The event marks an important milestone, showing Samsung’s commitment to investing in long-term knowledge infrastructure to promote innovation and improve the quality of high-tech workforce training in AI, Internet of Things, Big Data and especially the semiconductor sector.

Built on an area of nearly 1,000sq.m, the centre comprises two SIC classrooms, two semiconductor practice rooms equipped with Virtual Reality/Extended Reality technology, two meeting rooms and one lounge area.

The investment in the centre demonstrates Samsung’s long-term commitment to accompanying Việt Nam on its journey to develop future technology workers, in line with the Politburo's Resolution 57-NQ/TW on promoting the development of science and technology, innovation and national digital transformation.

It also contributes to carrying out the Politburo's Resolution 10-NQ/TW on attracting a new generation of foreign investment, emphasising the role of FDI enterprises in technology transfer and the development of skilled workers in Việt Nam.

Speaking at the event, President of Samsung Vietnam Na Ki Hong said: “Currently, the SIC lab model is present in Hà Nội, Đà Nẵng and Bắc Ninh, and today, I am extremely moved to attend the inauguration ceremony of the SIC Centre in Thái Nguyên. 

"The centre will become a solid launchpad, providing students with an in-depth learning environment and internationally standardised technology training programmes right here in Thái Nguyên.”

Trần Văn Hậu, vice chairman of the Thái Nguyên Provincial People’s Committee, said: “I believe that with the partnership of Samsung Vietnam, the support and connections of the National Innovation Centre, the capacity of Thái Nguyên University, the SIC Centre will open up many new opportunities for cooperation, contribute to training a workforce of high-tech engineers and experts, and develop creative ideas and useful technological solutions to serve businesses, Thái Nguyên Province and the country.”

SIC was officially launched globally in 2019. It is one of Samsung’s core corporate social responsibility projects and has expanded to 36 countries worldwide, including the US, Germany, Spain, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.
