HÀ NỘI — The Minister of Education and Training has appointed Associate Professor Dr Phạm Thu Hương as President of Foreign Trade University (FTU) for the 2020-25 term, as from July 1, 2025.
Hương replaces her predecessor, Associate Professor Dr Bùi Anh Tuấn, who has retired according to the regime.
Speaking at the appointment ceremony, Hương committed to working together with the school's teaching staff to realise the aspiration of Foreign Trade University to become one of the leading universities in Asia, a place that respects academic freedom, encourages creative research, nurtures dreams and ambitions and aims for positive impact and sustainable development.
Hương, born in 1977, is a former student of the 34th course majoring in Foreign Economics at the Foreign Trade University.
Previously, she held the position of Vice President of Foreign Trade University from July 2019, in charge of full-time undergraduate and postgraduate training, international cooperation, business cooperation, innovation and entrepreneurship. She is also the initiator of the training model associated with the career development of learners at Foreign Trade University.
Along with President Hương, Foreign Trade University currently has two Vice Presidents, including Associate Professor Dr Đào Ngọc Tiến and Associate Professor Dr Vũ Thị Hiền. The President of the University Council is Associate Professor Dr. Lê Thị Thu Thủy.
Foreign Trade University was established in 1960 and is one of the leading public universities in Việt Nam, specialising in training in economics, international trade and related fields.
The university currently has three campuses in Hà Nội, HCM City and Quảng Ninh Province, training a variety of levels from bachelor's to doctorate, along with many international training programmes. — VNS
