HÀ NỘI — The Việt Nam Forestry Administration under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MoAE), in partnership with Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam, have begunf the 2025 activities of the 'Water of Life' programme and launched the 'Nature Expedition with Mizuiku' initiative on Saturday.

The educational model aims to raise awareness about forest and water resource protection and will be deployed at national parks across the country.

This marks a major milestone in the ongoing public–private partnership between Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam and the MoAE, which began in 2024. As the first company to establish such a partnership in sustainable forest development, Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam continues its efforts in water replenishment, carbon offset, and climate change response.

Recognising the essential role of water, the company has supported reforestation at watershed areas since 2021, expanding nationwide in 2024. The 'Water of Life' programme aims to restore water, reduce carbon emissions, and improve livelihoods.

In just one year, the programme planted 35 hectares of upstream forests in Bắc Kạn, Nghệ An, and Cà Mau, trained over 100 forest owners and farmers, and positively impacted thousands of local residents. In 2025, the programme will grow to 60 hectares across five provinces: Bắc Kạn, Thái Nguyên, Nghệ An, Bình Phước and Long An. These areas are prioritised for their environmental roles in water retention and climate resilience.

The programme’s goals include water replenishment, carbon absorption, and improving lives. Its long-term vision: by 2050, Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam will restore and return more water to nature than it uses in production.

The initiative emphasises local participation through technical training on afforestation and intercropping, helping communities understand forest value while enhancing sustainable livelihoods.

In 2025, the programme also introduces 'Nature Expedition with Mizuiku' - Việt Nam’s first nature-based environmental education model in a public–private partnership. It offers students hands-on experiences in forests alongside lessons on water, ecosystems, and sustainability. The initiative will launch in three national parks this year, with nationwide expansion planned.

“Guided by the core value of ‘Growing for Good,’ Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam remains strongly committed to sustainability alongside with business growth,” said Ashish Joshi, CEO and General Director.

“We are honoured to be a trusted partner of the Vietnamese Government. These programmes reflect our commitment to environmental and social impact.”

Trần Quang Bảo, Director of the Việt Nam Forestry Administration, added: “The active and proactive engagement of Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam reflects strong social responsibility and shows the value of public–private partnerships in environmental protection.” — VNS
