HCM CITY The HCM City Department of Health and HCM City Social Security have formally designated FV Hospital as a primary healthcare provider under the national health insurance scheme, effective from July 1, 2025.

This designation allows patients who register FV Hospital as their primary care facility, or who receive treatment at its emergency department or outpatient services, to be eligible for 100 per cent coverage under the health insurance scheme, without requiring a referral.

Đào Thị Ngọc Bích, head of the hospital’s Insurance Services Department, said cases eligible for 100 per cent health insurance coverage include patients receiving outpatient consultations and treatment for conditions listed in Appendix 2 of Circular No. 01/2025/TT-BYT. This includes a range of serious conditions, such as outpatient cancer treatment involving chemotherapy or radiotherapy at FV’s Oncology Department.

In addition, patients undergoing cardiovascular interventions, knee, hip, or shoulder joint replacement surgeries, and eye surgeries (such as phacoemulsification or retinal detachment repair) are also fully covered by health insurance, with 100 per cent of benefits paid.

Dr. Jean-Marcel Guillon, CEO of FV Hospital, said that: “This is a great effort of FV Hospital to decide to apply health insurance to all patients coming for examination and treatment at FV.”

He further emphasised: “From January 1, 2026, FV will expand the application of health insurance payments to all inpatient treatment services, and at this time, patients will enjoy maximum health insurance benefits when treated at FV Hospital”.

Over the past decade, FV applied health insurance payments for a number of special services at the Hy Vọng Cancer Centre, Cardiology & Interventional Cardiology Department, Ophthalmology & Refractive Surgery, and Bone & Joint Centre, and many patients have received health insurance.

In many cases, patients have received coverage of up to 50 per cent of treatment costs, with some cases reaching over VNĐ1 billion (US$38,400).

The hospital has trained a dedicated team of 70 health insurance specialists to provide consultation and support for patients.

These staff members will also assist people in registering or changing their initial medical examination and treatment place, as well as guide them in applying for a valid referral when necessary. — BIZHUB
