HẢI PHÒNG — APM Terminals officially inaugurated a new swimming training facility at Đoàn Đức Thái Primary and Secondary School in northern Hải Phòng, marking a meaningful milestone in the company’s ongoing commitment to contribute to community well-being and the safety of children in Việt Nam.

The new facility features a five-lane swimming pool equipped with changing rooms, showers, and toilets, providing a safe environment for more than 700 students to learn swimming and water safety skills.

In Việt Nam, statistics show that only 9 per cent of schools have swimming facilities and approximately 33 per cent of students can swim. This project directly addresses a critical local need: reducing drowning incidents - one of the leading causes of child fatalities in coastal and island areas.

In collaboration with local authorities, APM Terminals has chosen to support the realization of the swimming training facility to ensure that students at Đoàn Đức Thái School have access to structured swimming lessons, helping them gain essential life-saving skills and greater confidence in the water.

Beyond its contribution to promoting the safety of children, the project exemplifies the long-standing collaboration between APM Terminals, Hateco Group and local authorities in Hải Phòng. The partnership advances the region’s maritime and logistics capabilities while supporting social progress at the community level. APM Terminals continues to extend its global expertise and local engagement to initiatives that uplift surrounding communities.

As part of its continued commitment to community development, APM Terminals will continue to support the swimming training facility at Đoàn Đức Thái School by providing swimming caps for all 700 students, funding a dedicated swimming instructor, and covering annual maintenance and equipment costs in the initial years to ensure the facility’s sustainability and safe operation.

This initiative also reflects APM Terminals’ broader role in supporting Việt Nam’s trade and logistics development. Through these efforts, APM Terminals continues to combine operational excellence with meaningful social contribution, enabling sustainable growth for both business and community.

APM Terminals develops and operates advanced container terminals around the world and has been lifting standards in the industry for more than a half century. The company is an independent division in A.P. Moller-Maersk, and has facilities in 60 key locations in 33 countries around the globe, with several in development. — VNS
