HÀ NỘI — Fintech firm 9Pay has officially partnered with the Ministry of Public Security’s Research and Application Centre for Population and Citizen Data (RAR) to deploy electronic identity verification services through the national VNeID platform.

The agreement, signed last week at the ministry’s headquarters, marks a key milestone in 9Pay’s digital ecosystem, helping strengthen compliance, enhance user experience and accelerate digital transformation in the financial sector.

Under the collaboration, users of the 9Pay app can now complete Know Your Customer procedures via VNeID — the national digital identity platform directly linked to the national population database. Key integrated features include identity verification through VNeID, biometric facial matching with State records and single sign-on access to the 9Pay app.

For users with a level-2 VNeID account, the verification process is streamlined: once consent is granted to share data, the system automatically retrieves and matches biometric information, without the need to scan ID cards or use near field communication. All operations are conducted entirely online and meet the highest data protection standards.

Colonel Trần Hồng Phú, Deputy Director General of the Police Department for Administrative Management of Social Order, said the integration of functions like single sign-on, e-ID sharing and facial authentication offers users a seamless and secure experience.

“This is a practical step aligned with the national strategy on digital transformation in the finance and banking sector. It helps build a safe, modern and user-centric digital ecosystem,” he said.

He also called on both parties to coordinate closely in five key areas: service deployment, system security, fraud prevention, digital solution development and business strategy planning.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, 9Pay CEO Vũ Ngọc said the move reflects the company’s commitment to safe, transparent and legally compliant digital finance.

“This partnership with RAR and the Ministry of Public Security is a strategic milestone in our journey to build a sustainable financial ecosystem,” he said.

The initiative also demonstrates 9Pay’s proactive compliance with the Law on Citizen Identity (2023), as well as Circulars 17 and 18 issued by the State Bank of Vietnam, both of which took effect in January. — VNS
