LÂM ĐỒNG — The National School Sports Festival 2026 officially opened in the Central Highlands province of Lâm Đồng on Tuesday, attracting 30 student sports delegations from across Việt Nam.

The event marks the first edition organised after the recent administrative restructuring, reflecting a new stage in the development of school sports nationwide.

Organised by the Ministry of Education and Training in coordination with the Lâm Đồng Department of Education and Training and supported by Nestlé MILO, the festival provides a nationwide platform for students to compete, exchange experiences and promote physical development.

The annual event aims to strengthen the school sports movement, encouraging students to maintain active lifestyles while developing teamwork, discipline and determination.

This year’s festival features five sports: swimming, athletics, badminton, table tennis and traditional martial arts. Table tennis and traditional martial arts have been added to the official programme, expanding opportunities for students with different sporting interests.

Swimming and athletics are organised in both advanced and mass participation categories, helping discover potential young athletes while promoting wider engagement.

Badminton, table tennis and traditional martial arts focus on mass participation, creating an open environment for students to compete and improve their skills.

The opening day on June 23 featured a range of activities, including school visits, cultural exchanges and sports activities across Lâm Đồng Province. These programmes allowed students from different regions to learn about local culture and build friendships beyond the competition.

An evening gala featuring performances and exchanges among participating teams was also held to celebrate the festival, creating a vibrant atmosphere and strengthening connections among young athletes.

The festival is organised with the continued support of Nestlé MILO, which has accompanied school sports development initiatives in Việt Nam for many years.

Lê Bùi Thị Mai Uyên, director of MILO & Milk Business, said the brand hopes to continue promoting school sports and encouraging students to lead active, healthy lifestyles.

“The festival reflects our long-term commitment to supporting schools, families and communities in nurturing a confident and resilient young generation,” she said.
