BẮC NINH — Yadea, a global leader in electric two-wheelers, has celebrated a major milestone by producing its 400,000th electric vehicle at its Bắc Ninh factory, marking six successful years of operation in Việt Nam.

This achievement highlights Yadea’s commitment to Việt Nam’s green energy ambitions, supporting the Government’s target to electrify all vehicles and transport infrastructure by 2050, according to a company statement.

Located on a 50,000sq.m site, Yadea’s Bắc Ninh factory manufactures 300,000 electric two-wheelers annually, with around 10 per cent exported to key regional markets including Indonesia, Thailand, Laos, Brazil, and Mexico.

“Yadea’s market share in Việt Nam has doubled from 10 per cent to 20 per cent in the past two years, making Việt Nam a key part of our global strategy,” said Liu Jia, General Director of Yadea Vietnam.

Liu Jia added that with strong government support, Yadea is committed to accelerating Việt Nam’s green mobility goals toward Net Zero by expanding production, boosting local sourcing, advancing R&D and engaging the community.

In 2024, Yadea broke ground on a new mega-factory in Bắc Giang, set to become Southeast Asia’s largest electric two-wheeler production hub with an annual capacity of two million units.

Currently, 60 per cent of components in select models are locally sourced, with plans to increase localisation to 90 per cent. Yadea is also developing a cutting-edge R&D centre in Bắc Giang to design high-end EVs tailored for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian markets.

Looking ahead, Yadea will expand R&D, drive innovation and diversify its model lineup and price points to meet evolving customer demands.

Despite rapid growth, Việt Nam’s electric two-wheeler market faces challenges like consumer perceptions and strong loyalty to gasoline vehicles. Yadea is collaborating with stakeholders to improve infrastructure, raise public awareness and highlight the long-term benefits of electric mobility. These efforts align with Yadea Group’s global strategy focused on expansion, innovation and product diversification.

“Việt Nam offers a unique advantage with clear green transport policies, a young tech-savvy population and strong local manufacturing potential. We believe our presence will deliver more high-quality options to consumers and help the Vietnamese electric mobility market reach its full potential,” said Liu. — VNS
