HÀ NỘI — VinSpeed High-Speed Railway Investment and Development Joint Stock Company, a member of Việt Nam’s leading conglomerate Vingroup, on Wednesday signed a cooperation agreement with Siemens Mobility, marking a major advance in the development of the country’s high-speed rail infrastructure.

Under the agreement, Siemens Mobility will serve as VinSpeed’s technology partner, responsible for the design, supply, and integration of advanced Velaro Novo high-speed trains and critical railway subsystems. These include ETCS Level 2 signalling with Automatic Train Operation (ATO), telecommunications, and electrification systems. Siemens Mobility will also explore the provision of advanced maintenance services.

The partnership underscores the two companies’ shared commitment to close collaboration and lays the groundwork for a modern, international-standard railway network in Việt Nam.

At the signing ceremony, Siemens Mobility CEO Michael Peter said the company was honoured to be selected by VinSpeed to help deliver Việt Nam’s first high-speed rail lines.

“This vote of confidence in our turnkey expertise and technology highlights Siemens Mobility’s position as a trusted partner for ambitious mobility projects worldwide,” he said. “Velaro Novo, our most advanced high-speed train platform, offers up to 30 per cent lower energy consumption, 10 per cent higher passenger capacity, and proven reliability, tailored to Việt Nam’s challenging terrain. Together, we are setting new benchmarks for rail travel and supporting Việt Nam’s emergence as a high-speed mobility leader.”

VinSpeed CEO Phạm Thiếu Hoa described the strategic partnership as a key milestone in the company’s roadmap for developing modern transport infrastructure in Việt Nam.

“By combining VinSpeed’s execution capabilities and deep understanding of the domestic market with Siemens Mobility’s global experience and advanced technologies, we are building a strong foundation for delivering international-standard high-speed rail lines that will drive economic growth and enhance the quality of life for the Vietnamese people,” he said.

As part of the cooperation, the Velaro Novo high-speed train platform will be introduced nationwide. Two routes have already been proposed: the 121-kilometre Hà Nội–Quảng Ninh (Hạ Long) line with four stations, and the 54-kilometre Bến Thành–Cần Giờ line with two stations. All routes will be equipped with state-of-the-art railway technologies.

With offices in Hà Nội, Đà Nẵng, and HCM City, Siemens Mobility maintains a strong local presence, providing digital solutions and software, rail infrastructure and services, rolling stock, components, and turnkey rail systems, contributing to Việt Nam’s sustainable growth, innovation, and integration into the global economy. — VNS
