HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese electric vehicle maker VinFast Auto Ltd. reported an 85.5 per cent year-on-year increase in revenue in the second quarter of 2026, supported by higher electric car deliveries and strong growth in electric two-wheelers, according to its unaudited financial results released on October 20.

The company delivered 70,085 electric cars worldwide during the quarter, up 20 per cent from the previous quarter and 96 per cent from the same period last year. International markets accounted for approximately 11 per cent of total car deliveries.

VinFast also delivered 286,039 electric motorbikes and bicycles, doubling the previous quarter's volume and increasing 311 per cent year-on-year.

Total revenue reached VNĐ30.3 trillion (US$1.2 billion), up 32.9 per cent from the previous quarter. Revenue from vehicle sales accounted for the bulk of the total, rising 33.4 per cent from the previous quarter and 92.7 per cent year-on-year to VNĐ28.8 trillion.

VinFast attributed the increase in vehicle sales revenue to continued growth in Việt Nam and rising contributions from international markets, including India, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Phạm Nhật Quân Anh, chairman and CEO of VinFast, said the company had achieved several important milestones during the quarter, with continued growth in both electric cars and electric two-wheelers.

"We believe these steps will help VinFast maintain its growth momentum while building a diversified global strategy, using capital more efficiently and becoming more adaptable," he said.

The company plans to continue expanding in key international markets, particularly the Philippines, Indonesia and India, while taking strategic steps in markets such as the US and Europe. It also intends to broaden its product and technology portfolio and strengthen after-sales services.

In Việt Nam, VinFast said it had maintained its position as the country's leading automotive brand for 22 consecutive months from September 2024. Its share of the domestic automotive market reached approximately 38 per cent as of June 30.

During the second quarter, the company introduced the new-generation VF8 and the VF2, described as the smallest personal vehicle in its product lineup.

According to VinFast, the new-generation VF8 received more than 12,700 orders, while the VF2 attracted over 28,700 orders within days of its launch.

International expansion remains central to the company's growth strategy, with Southeast Asia and India identified as important growth drivers. In the second quarter, VinFast ranked first among pure electric vehicle brands in the Philippines, fifth in India and eighth in Indonesia.

As of June 30, customers could purchase VinFast electric vehicles through a network of 474 stores across its operating markets. The company said it would continue expanding its distribution network, primarily through dealership partnerships, while gradually strengthening its global manufacturing and assembly capabilities. — BIZHUB/VNS
