HÀ NỘI — Viettel Group on June 10 announced that Viettel Post Corporation (Viettel Post) and Metfone (Viettel Cambodia) have launched Metfone Express, a new brand specialising in delivery and logistics services in Cambodia.
The launch marks the next step in Viettel Post’s strategy to expand its logistics operations across Southeast Asia.
Viettel Post Deputy General Director Nguyễn Tiến Dũng said: “Following Laos, Cambodia is the next market in Viettel Post’s international logistics expansion roadmap. We expect to leverage our operational expertise, technological capabilities and logistics management experience accumulated in Việt Nam to work with Metfone in developing logistics infrastructure that serves both individuals and businesses in Cambodia.”
The presence of Metfone Express is expected to strengthen regional cargo connectivity while laying the foundation for future cross-border logistics services.
Metfone Express is built on the combination of Viettel Post’s logistics operating capabilities and Metfone’s telecommunications, digital technology and customer ecosystem.
Metfone is currently the largest telecommunications operator in Cambodia, covering almost of the country’s population.
Cambodia is considered one of the region’s most promising markets for delivery and logistics services. The rapid growth of e-commerce, increasing demand for goods transportation and the ongoing digital transformation of business operations are driving strong demand for modern logistics solutions.
Industry forecasts indicate that Cambodia’s delivery services sector is expected to grow at an average annual rate of approximately 8.6 per cent in the next few years.
Metfone Express aims to meet the rising needs of individual customers, household businesses and enterprises across Cambodia.
Its service portfolio focuses on e-commerce logistics solutions, last-mile delivery, cash-on-delivery electronic reconciliation and digital order management.
Viettel Post is responsible for designing the project's operating model as well as for transferring technology, training personnel and deploying logistics management systems.
Meanwhile, Metfone Express leverages Metfone’s extensive network of 78 showrooms, nearly 30,000 sales points, eight million subscribers and existing workforce to rapidly expand service coverage nationwide.
According to the plan, Metfone Express will establish more than 600 business locations during its first year of operation, including showrooms, post offices and agency outlets.
The network is expected to expand to over 1,600 locations in subsequent phases. Distribution centres, regional warehouses and transportation assets will also be developed in line with market growth.
In its long-term strategy, Viettel Post has identified Southeast Asia as a key region for the development of its international logistics business. Before creating Metfone Express, Viettel Post partnered with Unitel (Viettel Laos) to introduce the Unitel Logistics brand in Laos.— VNS
