Vietnam Airlines launches HCM City – Copenhagen direct route to strengthen tourism ties
Vietnam Airlines announced the launch of the first direct air route connecting HCM City and Copenhagen, set to begin on December 15
COPENHAGEN — Vietnam Airlines took a major step in connecting Việt Nam and Northern Europe by launching the first direct air route between HCM City and Copenhagen, announced at the Việt Nam–Europe Tourism Promotion Programme in Denmark on November 19.
The event brought together officials, tourism authorities and businesses from both sides to strengthen cooperation in aviation and travel.
The new service, beginning on December 15, will operate three flights per week using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, cutting travel time between the two cities to about 12 hours. Flights from HCM City will depart at 10.45pm every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with return flights from Copenhagen leaving at 10.50am every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Vietnam Airlines said the route is part of its strategy to expand its European network and support Việt Nam’s tourism development in the Nordic market.
During the programme, the airline also signed four co-operation agreements with Danish partners to boost collaboration in tourism promotion, aviation services and market development. The agreements include deals with Greater Copenhagen Connected, Copenhagen Airport, Albatros Travel and a three-party agreement with Saigontourist and Nordic Travel on tour development and customer experience.
Copenhagen, a major economic and tourism hub in Northern Europe, serves as a gateway to the wider Scandinavian region. The new route is expected to facilitate greater travel, trade and investment flows between Việt Nam and Nordic countries.
The programme in Copenhagen highlights ongoing efforts by Vietnam Airlines and Việt Nam’s tourism sector to raise the country’s profile abroad and strengthen ties with European partners. — VNS
