SEOUL — Thirty outstanding fintech students from Việt Nam are taking part in a training programme in South Korea from November 10 to 14.

The five-day programme is hosted by Hanwha Life, one of South Korea’s leading life insurance companies, as part of its global corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, FuturePlus.

Participants include winners of the Vietnam Informatics Olympiad, top-performing students from the Vietnam–Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), scholarship recipients from HCM City University of Technology (HUTECH), and members of the HCM City Finance Mentor Programme.

Held at Hanwha Life’s headquarters in the 63 Building, its LIFEPARK training institute, and the DREAMPLUS Gangnam open innovation platform, the programme offers hands-on exposure to South Korea’s dynamic fintech ecosystem.

Following a welcome ceremony at Hanwha Life’s headquarters in Yeouido, participants visited DREAMPLUS Gangnam to explore South Korea’s startup scene and witness fintech innovation in action.

They also attended expert-led lectures such as “AI-driven Innovation in Insurance Services” and “The Future of Insurtech in Financial Markets”, delivered by Hanwha Life’s AI Division and external experts.

In addition, the group visited Korea University and Sogang University, attending lectures by Professor Jang Ho Kim and Professor Yoo Shin Jung, and joined campus tours to gain academic insights and inspiration.

The students will also take part in “A Night of FuturePlus”, where they will share their learning experiences and discuss future directions for fintech development in Việt Nam.

The initiative is part of FuturePlus, Hanwha Life’s education and financial literacy programme in Việt Nam, launched in collaboration with local universities, government agencies, and Chorogusan for Children.

Since its debut last year, FuturePlus has introduced a fintech major at VKU, sponsored the Vietnam Informatics Olympiad with a new AI track, and implemented programmes such as the Finance Mentor Programme to foster young digital finance talents.

Suk Hyun Lim, executive director and head of Corporate Planning Division at Hanwha Life, said the training programme will serve as a valuable opportunity for outstanding fintech talents in Việt Nam to explore practical career and entrepreneurial paths.

“Hanwha Life will continue to support young talents so they can contribute to improving financial literacy in their communities through the knowledge and experience they have gained.”

Established in 1946, Hanwha Life is South Korea’s first and oldest life insurance company, playing a pivotal role in developing the country’s insurance industry and supporting economic growth.

Hanwha Life Vietnam, operating since 2008, serves more than one million customers nationwide.

The company has received multiple recognitions, including The Saigon Times Enterprise for the Community Award (2021–2023) and Top 10 Prestigious Life Insurance Companies (2016–2024) by Vietnam Report. — BIZHUB
