HCM CITY — UNIQLO Vietnam, in collaboration with Hope Foundation, officially inaugurated a new educational facility, including two classrooms, two teachers' rooms and supporting facilities, at Thượng Trạch No. 1 Primary School - Cồn Roàng school site, in Thượng Trạch Commune, Quảng Trị Province, on January 30.
This marks the first time the leading Japanese fashion retail brand has partnered with the Hope Foundation to inaugurate new classrooms in the central region of Việt Nam.
Located in the border commune of Thượng Trạch, Cồn Roàng school site is one of the most disadvantaged remote schools in Quảng Trị Province. With its rugged mountainous terrain and harsh weather conditions, nearly 50 students – 100 per cent of whom are Ma Coong ethnic people (belonging to the Bru-Vân Kiều ethnic group) – have had to study in conditions lacking adequate facilities.
Since 2024, with the support of Hope Foundation, UNIQLO has been building and improving facilities at seven schools and constructing one bathroom in five provinces and cities, including Sơn La, Lào Cai, Quảng Trị, Đà Nẵng, and Cao Bằng. The programme has provided a solid and safe learning environment for thousands of students, helping them feel more secure in their studies and enjoy going to school every day.
On this occasion, the company also donated 5,000 HEATTECH thermal garments and 1,100 PUFFTECH quilted jackets to the people and children in Thượng Trạch and Phong Nha communes, helping them stay warm before the New Year. — VNS
