HÀ NỘI — Around 70 million people in Việt Nam are now using TikTok every month, the company has announced during the Southeast Asia Apps Summit 2025 held in Hà Nội.

According to Nikhil Rolla, TikTok's Head of Strategic Client Partnerships for Southeast Asia, the platform has surpassed 460 million monthly active users across the region. Among them, Indonesia leads with more than 160 million users, followed by Việt Nam with 70 million and Thailand with 50 million. The remaining 180 million are spread across other Southeast Asian countries.

“This shows how users in the region are embracing TikTok not only for entertainment but also for learning and exploring new ideas every day,” Rolla said.

David Law, Regional Sales Director at SensorTower, noted that TikTok is also the fastest-growing platform in Southeast Asia, underscoring its strong appeal and its role in the region’s expanding digital economy.

“These figures reflect not only tremendous growth potential for app developers and tech firms but also affirm Southeast Asia’s position as a key hub in the global digital transformation,” Law said.

Recent data reveal that two-thirds of TikTok users discover new apps intentionally on the platform, while 45 per cent continue exploring them further within TikTok - a sign of its growing influence in users’ decision-making beyond pure entertainment.

By leveraging its vast community, creative storytelling tools, and advanced data analytics, TikTok supports app developers and brands in scaling up efficiently, building loyalty and sustaining long-term user engagement.

Rolla added that TikTok is entering a new creative era driven by artificial intelligence, which fuels imagination and innovation.

“Our goal is to help every app reach the right audience, create deeper connections, and achieve meaningful growth on TikTok," he said.

"By combining creativity, technology, and data, we aim to empower brands and developers to thrive in Southeast Asia’s rapidly evolving digital landscape."

At the event, TikTok also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Digital Transformation Centre under Việt Nam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The partnership aims to strengthen Việt Nam’s digital ecosystem by supporting local enterprises, promoting cultural exchange, and driving sustainable digital growth.

“The collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism once again reaffirms TikTok’s long-term commitment to fostering innovation and sustainable digital development across the region,” Rolla said. — VNS
