HÀ NỘI — Techcombank has been recognised as the Best Managed Bank in Việt Nam and its CEO, Jens Lottner, has been named the Best Bank CEO in Việt Nam for the period 2022-25 by The Asian Banker at its Global Leadership Achievement Awards 2025.

Techcombank’s Chief Information Officer, Nguyễn Anh Tuấn, was also named Chief Information and Technology Officer of the Year in Asia Pacific.

The Asian Banker conducts its Leadership Achievement Awards programme once every three years and is the most prestigious awards programme that recognises management, CEOs and other leaders in the banking and financial services industry. With an independent and stringent evaluation process, the award is recognised as the gold standard for banking leadership and innovation.

In winning a Best Bank CEO award, Jens Lottner joined an elite group of global Bank CEOs that included the heads of JP Morgan, DBS Bank, Bank Mandiri, Mizuho Financial Group, Maybank, OCBC Bank and of other leading financial institutions. 

The Asian Banker Global Leadership Achievement Award 2025 for Best Bank CEO in Việt Nam was given to Jens Lottner in recognition of his outstanding leadership of Techcombank since becoming CEO in 2020.

Since then, Jens Lottner has led Techcombank through a bold transformation journey that has seen significant strategic investment in its digital banking platforms, advanced data and AI capabilities and the strength of its talent and led to strong financial performance and profitability.

Accepting his award, Techcombank CEO Jens Lottner said: “I am delighted that Techcombank has won the award for Best Managed Bank in Việt Nam, which recognises the excellence and commitment of the entire management team, as well as every single Techcombank employee who have all contributed to the bank’s success.

The awards for Best Managed Bank in Việt Nam and Best Bank CEO recognised Techcombank’s impressive growth trajectory and high profitability, coupled to its sustained balance sheet strength and asset quality since 2020.  

At the end of 2024, Techcombank had the highest average return on assets (ROA) over the past five years of any Vietnamese bank, while also maintaining the strongest risk profile in the industry, reflected by its credit ratings that are leading among Vietnamese banks.

In 2025, Techcombank has continued its long-term growth trajectory, achieving its highest ever quarterly profit before tax in the second quarter, reaching VNĐ7.9 trillion. The bank’s continued growth reflects the success of its transformation strategy, as well as the robust economic momentum of Việt Nam’s economy.

Jens Lottner was selected as the Best Bank CEO in Việt Nam based on a detailed analysis of the Techcombank’s performance and strategy by The Asian Banker’s editorial team and based on feedback from peers within the industry. The award was then reviewed by The Asian Banker’s distinguished Council of Advisors chaired by Alain Chevalier, Professor of Finance at ESCP Europe.

Alain Chevalier, Professor of Finance, ESCP, Europe and Chairman, TAB Global Future of Finance Summit Advisory Council said: “It is the opinion of the Council that the leadership of Jens Lottner has been exceptional in guiding Techcombank through a transformative journey.

"Lottner has overseen significant technological advancements, including the development of a market-leading digital banking platform, artificial intelligence capabilities and a 'data brain' system, enabling hyper-personalised customer experiences. His pioneering ecosystem strategy has also expanded Techcombank's partnerships in real estate and insurance, creating seamless customer journeys and innovative offerings.”

The awards also acknowledged some of the major strategic breakthroughs made by Techcombank in recent years. Notably, the bank’s Brand Equity Index has increased to become the highest of any Vietnamese bank at the end of 2024. Similarly, Techcombank took the No 1 position in transaction banking in Việt Nam based on its market share of transactions and its CASA balance also reached an all-time high at the end of 2024.

Under Jens Lottner’s leadership, Techcombank also deepened its commitment to sustainability increasing its provision of green credit and becoming the first private bank in Việt Nam to introduce a Green Bond Framework and issue a green bond in line with international standards of International Capital Market Association (ICMA).
