Fresh pomelos and lemons from Việt Nam will now be officially exported to China following the signing of new phytosanitary protocols between the two countries, marking a significant step forward in expanding official export channels for Vietnamese fruit.
The first shipment of fresh pomelos was cleared on April 22 for import into Australia, marking a milestone in the country’s efforts to access high-standard overseas markets.
The first shipment of circus fruits from Hải Dương to the EU this year consists of Tân Lạc red-fleshed pomelos and green-skinned ones grown in Hòa Bình Province.
Currently, the whole country has 105,400 hectares of pomelo cultivation, with an output of nearly 905,000 tonnes with diverse pomelo varieties, typical for each region.
Four pomelo planting areas in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau have been granted planting area codes, enabling them to export green-skin pomelo to the US.
Pomelo is the seventh fresh fruit of Viet Nam to be licensed to enter the US market, following mango, longan, lychee, dragon fruit, rambutan, and star apple.
