HÀ NỘI — Phenikaa Group has handed over a nearly VNĐ5 billion (US$190,000) two-storey classroom building at Gang Thép High School in Thái Nguyên City.
The project is the first milestone in the group's pledge to contribute VNĐ20 billion to the Ministry of Education and Training's National Programme for Permanent School and Teacher Housing Construction, which aims to ensure all classrooms are built with permanent structures by 2030.
The programme supports the Government's efforts to upgrade and modernise educational facilities under Resolution No 71, with the objective of improving teaching and learning conditions, strengthening the education system, and developing a more skilled workforce.
Founded in 1965 with 11 teachers and nearly 200 students, Gang Thép High School has expanded to more than 1,300 students and 88 faculty members. However, its facilities have struggled to keep pace with rising enrolment, resulting in shift-based classes and the use of functional rooms as classrooms.
Phenikaa selected the school as the first beneficiary of its school construction programme. Construction of the two-storey building, which has nearly 1,000 square metres of floor space, began in late 2025 and was completed in about seven months. The facility is now operational, providing additional classroom capacity and improved learning conditions for students and teachers.
Earlier this year, Phenikaa also broke ground on a two-storey classroom building at Trạm Tấu High School in Lào Cai Province. The project is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2026.
The group, which operates more than 30 subsidiaries in Việt Nam and overseas, has businesses spanning manufacturing, technology, education and healthcare. The company says it integrates sustainable development with social responsibility as part of its strategy and has developed an education ecosystem ranging from primary to postgraduate levels. — VNS
