SEOUL — Việt Nam’s National Innovation Centre (NIC) on Tuesday signed strategic co-operation agreements with venture capital fund Nextrans and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) to accelerate innovation, start-ups and the green transition.

The signing ceremony took place in Seoul under the witness of Party General Secretary Tô Lâm and Republic of Korea (RoK) Prime Minister Kim Min-Seok in the Việt Nam–RoK Economic Forum.

Under the agreement with Nextrans, NIC will focus on building a dynamic innovation ecosystem in Việt Nam. The partnership will also help Vietnamese start-ups gain greater access to international venture capital, including the establishment of an innovation fund and improve the capacity of founders and ecosystem players through training, mentorship and global networking opportunities.

The partnership with GGGI will connect innovation with green growth, supporting the UN’s 2030 Agenda and the Paris Agreement. It will focus on developing climate-tech industries and green start-ups, using AI and investment links to support the sector, promoting clean hydrogen projects in Việt Nam and creating digital platforms to connect global investors and markets through GGGI’s Green Transition Lab.

Speaking at the forum, Party General Secretary Tô Lâm highlighted the RoK’s strong support for the NIC, particularly SK Group’s contributions to infrastructure and ecosystem development.

He expressed his belief that the two countries would continue to work closely together to help Việt Nam achieve a “Red River Miracle” based on science, technology and innovation.

In recent years, NIC has implemented several major initiatives, including hosting national and international events such as Việt Nam Innovation Day, the Semiconductor Industry Exhibition, and the Việt Nam Investment and Innovation Forum. The centre has also expanded venture capital networks and trained high-quality human resources in strategic technology sectors.

The new deals with Nextrans and GGGI help turn the Việt Nam–RoK leaders’ strategic vision into action, creating opportunities for innovation, start-ups and green growth and supporting sustainable shared prosperity. — BIZHUB
