HCM CITY — City International Hospital in HCM City has been awarded two international certifications, marking a key step in its efforts to align healthcare services with global standards.

At a ceremony on March 17, the hospital received RTAC accreditation for its in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) services and ISO 15189:2022 certification for its laboratory.

RTAC is granted by the Reproductive Technology Accreditation Committee under the Fertility Society of Australia and New Zealand, while ISO 15189:2022 is issued by the International Organisation for Standardisation.

The event also marked the first anniversary of the hospital’s IVF Centre, highlighting its rapid development.

Đinh Anh Tuấn, Director of the Maternal and Child Health Department under the Ministry of Health, attended the event and emphasised that Việt Nam now has more than 70 reproductive support facilities, increasing competition in service quality and outcomes.

After just one year of operation, the hospital’s IVF Centre has performed more than 700 cycles, which is a notable achievement, he said.

“Achieving RTAC accreditation reflects compliance with international standards in clinical quality, patient safety and legal requirements.”

Trần Quốc Thành, executive director of the hospital, said the dual certifications represent a major step forward in the hospital’s sustainable development strategy.

“These recognitions are not only a testament to the efforts of our medical staff, but also a strong commitment to delivering safe, effective and high-quality healthcare services that truly meet international standards,” he said.

To obtain RTAC accreditation, the IVF Centre met strict criteria on clinical expertise, standardised treatment protocols, quality control and patient safety.

In its first year, the centre treated nearly 1,000 infertile couples, with a clinical pregnancy rate of 52.9 per cent and an ongoing pregnancy rate of 41.7 per cent.

The hospital’s laboratory was also recognised with ISO 15189:2022 certification, a leading international standard for medical laboratory quality and competence, covering personnel, testing procedures and quality management systems.

The hospital plans to continue investing in advanced technologies and human resources to further improve service quality. — VNS
