HÀ NỘI — Kita Group has partnered with Chinese automaker Chery to manufacture and exclusively distribute electric commercial vehicles in Việt Nam, with the first batch of 1,000 units expected to reach the market by the end of this year.

The vehicles will target corporate customers in logistics, e-commerce, delivery services, retail and urban operations.

Before Chery's entry, Việt Nam's market had already seen the presence of several Chinese electric vehicle brands, including BYD, Wuling, MG and Geely, through imports, distribution partnerships or manufacturing joint ventures.

Chery is currently one of China's largest automakers and has led the country's automobile exports for several consecutive years.

Citing company figures, Znews online newspaper said Chery sold 10,384 vehicles in April, up 40 per cent year-on-year and surpassing the 10,000-unit monthly mark for the first time.

Export sales reached 2,862 units, a 323 per cent increase from a year earlier, while sales of new-energy heavy-duty trucks climbed to 1,083 units, more than double the figure recorded in the same period last year.

The company said the segment had maintained growth of over 100 per cent for seven consecutive months.

On the Vietnamese side, Kita Group was established in 2014 and primarily operates in real estate development.

The group currently owns an ecosystem of subsidiaries and affiliated businesses, including KITA Land, KITA Invest, KITA Cons and KITA Link. — BIZHUB
