Carpooling platform BlaBlaCar with 30 million annual active members, has officially launched its services in Việt Nam.
HCM CITY — BlaBlaCar, the carpooling platform with 30 million annual active members, has officially launched its services in Việt Nam.
This strategic move marks the French company's expansion in Southeast Asia and contributes to its global expansion endeavours, now spanning across 41 countries worldwide.
In addition to Việt Nam, BlaBlaCar has extended its platform to Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia.
The platform facilitates connections between private drivers with available seats on planned intercity journeys and passengers seeking to reach the same destination. This innovative approach enables both parties to share travel costs efficiently.
The deployment of BlaBlaCar in Việt Nam is especially timely, as ongoing fuel price fluctuations continue to impact transportation expenses and household budgets nationwide.
With the average BlaBlaCar trip carrying 2.1 passengers who share travel costs, drivers can cover more than half of their fuel and toll expenses. The platform's pricing system calculates a reasonable contribution per passenger based on local fuel rates and journey distance, ensuring that fees solely cover costs without generating profit margins.
The period between March and May 2026 witnessed an impressive registration of over 600,000 new drivers globally on BlaBlaCar, indicating an increasing interest in shared mobility solutions worldwide.
"In an increasingly digital-minded society where we are all looking for ways to save money and limit our impact on the environment, BlaBlaCar makes the drive between two cities easier by creating a connection, splitting costs and limiting the number of individual cars on the road," said Nicolas Brusson, co-Founder and CEO of BlaBlaCar.
"We are excited to bring BlaBlaCar to Viet Nam and bring our carpooling model to travellers across Viet Nam," said Nicolas Brusson.
On BlaBlaCar, drivers publish their planned trips, including the origin, destination, date, available seats and recommended cost, on the platform. Passengers can search for suitable trips and book a seat directly. — BIZHUB
