HCM CITY — Canadian lumber is gaining recognition in Việt Nam for its sustainability credentials and technical reliability, noted Vince Trần, the country director of Canadian Wood Vietnam, at the ongoing VietnamWood 2025 – one of Việt Nam's largest international woodworking trade fairs in HCM City.
Canadian Wood Vietnam, a part of Forestry Innovation Investment (FII), a provincial agency of the government of British Columbia, Canada, dedicated to developing markets for forest products, has set up an engaging exhibition booth at the event, showcasing the various applications of Canadian softwood in furniture products and decorative elements.
The booth demonstrates the versatility of Canadian wood species, with a unique feature being a wall of colour panels displaying finishes ranging from light to dark tones, illustrating how Canadian wood species can complement diverse designs and market trends.
“VietnamWood is a valuable opportunity for Canadian Wood Vietnam to connect and engage directly with manufacturers and industry professionals in the wood processing industry, helping us gain a better understanding of needs and development trends in the Vietnamese market,” said Vince Trần.
“We are pleased to see the growing recognition of Canadian lumber not only for its sustainability credentials, but also for its technical reliability. Our mission is to support factories in the region in adopting Canadian softwoods for efficient, high-quality production, reinforcing our role in the sustainable growth of Viet Nam’s wood industry.”
Aligned with the woodworking theme of the exhibition, Canadian Wood Vietnam is distributing wood samples of Canadian species as giveaways, encouraging visitors to experiment with finishes. The company's technical experts are also available at the showcase to offer technical consultations and inform manufacturers about participating in the Canadian Wood Trail Programme.
This initiative supplies lumber to factories for trial use and provides complimentary technical support, enabling factories to evaluate Canadian softwoods directly and optimise their production processes confidently.
The adoption of certified wood from responsibly managed forests is not only a regulatory requirement in Việt Nam but also an important strategic move to remain competitive in global markets.
Therefore, Canadian softwoods, certified by internationally recognised third-party standards such as the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC), provide a trusted solution for manufacturers to enhance product quality and meet the growing consumer preference for furniture made from responsibly sourced wood.
In addition, Canadian Wood supports businesses in sourcing Canadian softwood, while providing technical assistance, training assessments, and market development consulting.
Spanning 13,500sq.m and featuring over 320 exhibitors from 28 countries, VietnamWood has established itself as the leading exhibition in the wood processing industry in Việt Nam, specialising in machinery, technology, sawn timber, and consumable materials for wood processing plants.
The fair primarily attracts domestic and international manufacturers, interior design and construction companies, wood distributors, and sourcing offices. — VNS
