HÀ NỘI — The southernmost province of Cà Mau has signed a memorandum of understanding with domestic conglomerate TH Group to explore investment opportunities in sectors including high-tech agriculture, medicinal plants, renewable energy and eco-tourism.

The agreement was signed on Monday following a meeting between provincial officials and a TH Group delegation to discuss potential cooperation.

Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyễn Hồ Hải said Cà Mau was seeking to achieve double-digit economic growth and narrow the gap in living standards and socio-economic development between the province and major cities and other localities.

The provincial government will support TH Group in conducting research and site surveys and identifying potential projects, Hải said, adding that the province also hopes the group will promote Cà Mau's investment opportunities to domestic and international investors.

TH Group general director Thái Hương said the province has favourable conditions for developing a circular economy, high-tech agriculture, wellness tourism and medicinal plant cultivation.

The group would establish a dedicated team to work with provincial authorities on research, surveys and project planning, with a view to developing specific implementation roadmaps, Hương said.

Cà Mau is seeking to attract investment by leveraging its mangrove forests, alluvial flats and tourism resources. Priority sectors include circular economy models, high-tech agriculture, medicinal plants, renewable energy, logistics and eco-tourism.

The province has 10,130 active enterprises with combined registered capital exceeding VNĐ130 trillion (US$5 billion). Local authorities are working to simplify administrative procedures, provide legal support and improve businesses' access to credit, while encouraging the adoption of science and technology in production. —VNS
