THÁI NGUYÊN — TNG Land JSC on Monday broke ground on a social housing project in Thái Nguyên Province, with a total investment of around VNĐ1.23 trillion (US$47.4 million), as part of efforts to expand affordable housing for workers and low-income earners.

Located in Tích Lương Ward, the project will cover nearly 1.9ha and include two 22-storey apartment buildings and 26 adjacent commercial townhouses. Construction is scheduled for completion within 24 months, providing more than 1,000 apartments.

The company said that the project is being implemented under the province’s mechanism for social housing, aimed at streamlining administrative procedures and accelerating approvals while ensuring compliance with legal regulations.

Nguyễn Linh, vice chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said Thái Nguyên has approved 13 social housing projects comprising more than 17,000 units to date.

Under its 2026-30 plan, the province aims to implement 48 projects and build between 45,000 and 60,000 social housing units by 2030.

He called on the developer to ensure construction quality, labour safety and compliance with environmental and fire safety regulations, and to adhere to commitments on progress, eligible buyers and selling prices in line with the law.

Nguyễn Văn Thời, chairman of TNG Land JSC, said his company considers social housing development a long-term strategy and aims to expand the supply of affordable homes, in line with the Government’s programme to build one million social housing units nationwide. — VNS
