Students from Đinh Thiện Lý Secondary and High School (LSTS) took part in the VEX Robotics World Championship 2026, one of the world’s largest robotics competitions, held in the US from April 21 to 30.
HCM CITY — Students from Đinh Thiện Lý Secondary and High School (LSTS) powered their way onto the global stage at the VEX Robotics World Championship 2026 in the US, with their latest performance showing both technical growth and steady progress in STEM education.
Held from April 21 to 30, the competition is one of the world’s largest robotics events, bringing together more than 2,400 teams from over 60 countries. LSTS entered three teams this year: 50922T and 50922S in the High School division and 27908V in the Middle School division.
The school’s presence has grown steadily in recent years, expanding from one team in 2024 to two in 2025 and three in 2026, reflecting its continued focus on STEM-related activities.
Team 27908V – LSTS Singularity won the Design Award in the Math Division, one of the division’s major awards recognising engineering design, problem-solving and documentation. The team also advanced to the Top 16 and took part in the Alliance Selection round.
In the High School division, Team 50922T – LSTS Mako Maniacs ranked 32nd out of 86 teams in the Design category and placed 21st out of 511 teams in Robot Skills.
Team 50922S – LSTS Vertex made its first appearance at the world championship and completed the competition after several rounds of matches.
Beyond competing, members of the LSTS delegation also contributed as volunteers. Two teachers and six students supported organisational activities throughout the championship.
According to the school, participation in international competitions such as VEX Worlds gives students valuable exposure to global STEM environments, opportunities to engage with peers from other countries and chances to develop teamwork and problem-solving skills.
The school said it plans to continue expanding STEM learning activities and robotics programmes in the coming years. — VNS
