HÀ NỘI — Vietcombank, in co-operation with the Hoàn Kiếm Ward People’s Committee, on Thursday opened a painting exhibition titled Mã Đáo at the Hoàn Kiếm Lake area on Lê Thái Tổ Street, launching a series of cultural activities welcoming the Spring of Bính Ngọ 2026.
Running until February 28, the exhibition features 31 paintings inspired by the image of the horse, a zodiac animal closely linked to Việt Nam’s history, culture and spiritual life.
The theme Mã Đáo is drawn from the traditional expression mã đáo thành công, which conveys the belief that success comes through perseverance, sustained effort and the completion of a long journey. Associated with the Year of the Horse, the theme reflects aspirations for positive beginnings, progress and development in the new year.
The exhibition space follows a continuous route and is divided into three sections: history and legend; culture and belief; and trade and development. Together, the works trace the evolving symbolism of the horse, from folklore and spiritual practices to its role in exchange, mobility and economic growth.
According to the organisers, the exhibition is designed as an open cultural space during the early days of Tết (Lunar New Year), blending traditional artistic language with contemporary expression to bring cultural values closer to the public.
Beyond its banking operations, Vietcombank has remained actively involved in cultural and community activities at both national and local levels, alongside the implementation of social welfare programmes.
The Mã Đáo exhibition is expected to be a cultural highlight of Spring Bính Ngọ 2026 in Hà Nội, contributing to efforts to preserve and promote traditional cultural values while creating a distinctive cultural space in the capital’s historic centre.
The collaboration between Vietcombank and the Hoàn Kiếm Ward People’s Committee reflects ongoing co-ordination between businesses and local authorities in organising community-oriented cultural activities in the city. — VNS
