HCM CITY — The third International Trade Fair for the Pet Industry in Việt Nam (Petfair Vietnam 2026) opened in HCM City on June 10, bringing together businesses, experts and industry stakeholders from around the world to explore cooperation and growth opportunities in the rapidly expanding pet care market.

The three-day event has attracted more than 250 exhibitors from 20 countries and territories, including the Czech Republic, Turkey, Germany, Russia, the US, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Australia and China.

They are showcasing a range of products, technologies, and solutions covering pet nutrition, healthcare, grooming, veterinary services, and manufacturing.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Hạ Thúy Hạnh, vice-president of the Vietnam Animal Welfare Association, said the role of pets in modern society had changed significantly in recent years.

“Pets are becoming true members of the family. Both in Việt Nam and globally, we are witnessing a profound shift in perception.

“Pets are no longer simply animals kept for practical purposes but have become companions, a source of emotional support, and an indispensable part of many households, particularly among younger generations.”

Changing attitudes are fuelling strong growth in the pet industry, with owners increasingly seeking higher-quality products and services, she said.

“Today’s pet owners look beyond basic products. They place greater emphasis on nutritional quality and product traceability, advanced veterinary and healthcare services, and sustainable, humane, and environmentally friendly production practices.”

She added that Petfair Vietnam serves as more than a conventional trade exhibition by providing a platform where technological innovation and animal welfare objectives converge.

Nguyễn Bá Vinh, managing director of Minh Vi Exhibition and Advertisement Services Co Ltd (VEAS), said Petfair Vietnam is designed as a comprehensive commercial ecosystem connecting every segment of the pet industry value chain.

The distinctive feature of this year’s exhibition is the direct connection between suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, and buyers through the VIP buyer programme and business matching activities.

In addition to product showcases, the event also features several specialised zones, including the buyer pavilion, paw innovations showcase, aquarium and aquascape display area, and veterinary hub.

Organised by VEAS with support from various local and international organisations, the exhibition at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre runs until June 12 and is expected to attract around 12,000 visitors. — BIZHUB
