HCM CITY — Jon Huntsman, vice chairman and president of Strategic Growth at Mastercard, reaffirmed Mastercard's commitment to continuing its partnership with Việt Nam's digital payment ecosystem during his recent visit to Việt Nam.

Mastercard delegates led by Huntsman held discussions with senior leaders from the State Bank of Vietnam, the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on opportunities to deepen cooperation in support of Việt Nam’s digital economy.

Discussions covered digital payments, payment security, cybersecurity, financial inclusion and long-term investment, as well as how Mastercard’s global expertise, technology and data capabilities can support a more secure, resilient and inclusive digital ecosystem.

The dialogue also reinforced the importance of continued public-private collaboration as Việt Nam advances its digital transformation.

Huntsman said that Việt Nam’s continued digital transformation is unlocking significant opportunities for businesses, communities, and consumers across the country.

"Alongside government bodies, regulators, customers and industry stakeholders, Mastercard is committed to strengthening critical infrastructure and building a thriving, resilient digital payments ecosystem to support Việt Nam’s next stage of growth,” he said.

These engagements build on Mastercard’s longstanding work across Việt Nam’s digital ecosystem. In HCM City, Mastercard has supported open-loop transit payments across Metro Line 1, buses, waterbuses and public bicycles, working with local partners to make everyday mobility more convenient and digitally enabled.

Beyond transportation, Mastercard has partnered with the Ministry of Public Security and GoTrust on a Digital eCitizen Booth initiative to make government services more accessible through secure digital solutions.

Mastercard is also supporting Việt Nam’s digital development through a 2026-30 strategic collaboration with the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, covering technology, digital transformation and data-driven insights to support sustainable tourism growth.

Through Strive Women, a Mastercard Strive programme led by CARE, Mastercard also works with partners including VPBank to help women-led small businesses strengthen resilience and growth with financial and digital tools.
