HCM CITY — Marico SEA, a leading FMCG company in Việt Nam known for its X-Men brand, and DUYTAN Recycling, a pioneer in advanced plastic recycling, have signed a strategic cooperation agreement on packaging plastic collection and recycling under the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) programme.

The agreement represents a significant milestone in both companies’ efforts to reduce post-consumer plastic waste and promote a circular economy in Việt Nam. In 2025, the two sides aim to collect and recycle 190 tonnes of plastic, equivalent to about 14.6 million bottles.

EPR, mandated under the Environmental Protection Law 2020 and Decree 08/2022/NĐ-CP, has required producers and importers to take responsibility for recycling post-consumer products, including plastic packaging, since January 2024. This is seen as an important step linking environmental responsibility with business operations.

“At Marico SEA, Responsible Growth is the foundation of all our activities,” said Vivek Jain, Business Head of Marico SEA.

“Our partnership with DUYTAN Recycling reflects our commitment to sustainable packaging and to Việt Nam’s net zero goal by 2050.

"Beyond plastic, we are also working to recycle paper, cartons and glass, while engaging communities through clean-up and forestation campaigns.”

For DUYTAN Recycling, the partnership reinforces its long-term strategy of developing the circular economy. The company has invested heavily in 'Bottle to Bottle' recycling technology and operates under more than 20 international standards, including US FDA and European EFSA requirements.

“This collaboration shows the synergy between a global FMCG brand and a domestic recycling leader,” said Lê Anh, Sustainability Director of DUYTAN Recycling.

“Together, we are turning plastic waste into a valuable resource and supporting Việt Nam’s transition to a green economy.”

For Marico SEA, the partnership in Việt Nam is part of its global sustainability roadmap. Marico, one of India’s leading consumer goods companies, reported a turnover of US$1.3 billion in FY 2024-25 across Asia and Africa.

Through this partnership, Marico SEA and DUYTAN Recycling aim to build a model for effective packaging recycling in Việt Nam, while raising community awareness and setting new benchmarks for sustainable business practices. — VNS
