ĐẮK LẮK — Continuing its long-term commitment to sustainable development in Việt Nam, Japfa Comfeed Vietnam Limited Company (Japfa Vietnam) is making significant investments to expand a high-tech, integrated livestock production system in the Central Highlands region.

The closed-loop production chain encompasses a 100,000-head grandparent coloured chicken farm, a state-of-the-art hatchery with a designed capacity of 40 million chicks per year, and a large-scale contract farming network involving more than 120 local households.

A particularly notable highlight is Japfa’s new hatchery, one of the largest of its kind in Việt Nam, covering 2.2ha in Pơng Drang Commune, Đắk Lắk Province. This is Japfa Việt Nam’s fourth hatchery in the country and is equipped with cutting-edge automated systems, including a centralised control panel.

With a total investment of over VNĐ130 billion (US$4.97 million), the facility operates 12 Belgian-imported incubators. It is also the company’s first hatchery nationwide to utilise infrared beak treatment technology, which helps reduce stress for chicks and optimises labour efficiency on partner farms.

“Nearly three decades ago, Japfa recognised the potential of Việt Nam and committed to a long-term investment strategy aimed at building a modern, integrated livestock value chain that contributes to sustainable agriculture,” said Clemens Tan, General Director of Japfa Vietnam.

“Compared to other regions such as the Southeast or the Mekong Delta, the Central Highlands still offers substantial room for growth.”

At the heart of Japfa’s integrated model is its strong collaboration with local farmers.

“To us, close cooperation with farmers is essential to creating a closed and sustainable ecosystem where both sides benefit and grow together over the long term,” Tan said. 

Under the contract farming model, Japfa supplies day-old chicks, high-quality feed, technical support, access to low-interest bank loans through affiliated financial institutions, and guaranteed offtake for farmed products. Currently, Japfa partners with nearly 600 farming households across Việt Nam, supplying the market with over 40 million coloured chickens annually.

Tan said that Việt Nam’s livestock industry, particularly poultry farming, still holds considerable growth potential. As part of its vision, Japfa aims to triple its chicken population and further strengthen its closed-loop production model in the coming years.

“Japfa’s long-term goal is to protect the environment while helping the livestock industry thrive and deliver benefits across the entire value chain,” Tan added.
