HCM CITY — The Green Transition Forum and Recycling Day will be held in HCM City on July 31, aiming to promote green transition in both business and daily life by advancing the circular economy, encouraging recycling and resource reuse and contributing to Việt Nam’s net-zero emissions goal.

The event will include a seminar titled “Green Transition in the New Context” and a panel discussion on “The Green Transformation Journey of Vietnamese Enterprises – Towards the Net Zero Goal”.

They would feature in-depth presentations on HCM City’s roadmap for greening its economy, the role of private enterprises, and shared experiences in promoting circular economy models.

Business leaders, experts and policymakers would discuss the challenges, opportunities and strategic pathways for Vietnamese enterprises in their green transformation journey.

At the event, a green grant package will be awarded to 12 small and start-up enterprises selected from hundreds of applications nationwide.

Two strategic partnership agreements will also be signed, one between the High-Quality Vietnamese Goods Business Association and Packaging Recycling Organisation Vietnam (ProVietnam) and another between the association and the Vietnam National University – HCM City to foster innovation and develop a green-skilled workforce.

Speaking at a press conference to introduce the event in HCM City on Wednesday, Vũ Kim Hạnh, chairwoman of the association, said the event will also feature an exhibition showcasing a wide range of innovative products from 50 businesses, startups, organisations and universities, including 3D printers that use recycled plastic, shopping bags made from fishing nets, trash-collecting robots and smart trash barriers.

Other exhibits will feature biodegradable and paper-based packaging, refill stations and cleaning products made from pineapple peels to indicate the growing adoption of circular economy practices and responsible consumption.

Student groups will also present innovative projects such as mango-peel leather, coconut-fiber planting pellets and air-purifying products made from microorganisms, she added.

Other activities include a talk show on creative uses of pineapples by businesses, the final round of the Green Ideas Competition for students, and a recycled fashion show performed by 100 underprivileged children from the Mekong Delta. — BIZHUB/VNS
