HÀ NỘI -- FPT Group and Japan’s OKI Electric Industry have signed a cooperation agreement to supply next-generation automated teller machines and cash recycling solutions to Vietnam’s banking sector, the companies said.
Under the deal, FPT will become OKI’s official partner in Việt Nam, providing consulting, supply, deployment and maintenance services for OKI’s ATM and cash deposit machine systems. The partnership targets commercial banks and financial institutions nationwide as Việt Nam accelerates the modernisation of its banking infrastructure.
In the initial phase, the companies plan to deploy OKI’s latest-generation ATMs at major Vietnamese banks, with plans to expand coverage more broadly across the sector, they said.
Việt Nam’s demand for modern ATM systems has been rising alongside increased automation and digitalisation in banking, driven by growing transaction volumes and the need to improve operational efficiency.
Founded more than 140 years ago, OKI is one of the world’s major ATM manufacturers, with its products widely used in Japan, Europe and other parts of Asia. The company is known for its cash recycling technology, which allows banknotes deposited by customers to be reused for withdrawals, helping banks reduce cash handling and replenishment costs.
OKI’s latest G8 ATM-Recycler offers faster transaction speeds, higher cash storage capacity and a compact design, while its BRM-RG8 cash recycling module can process up to 12 banknotes per second and store up to 17,700 notes, according to the company.
FPT, one of Việt Nam’s largest technology groups, said the partnership would strengthen its financial services portfolio and support banks’ digital transformation efforts. -- VNS
